The dates for the 2010 R.O.C.K. Barn Dance and Open House have been set.  They promise to be even bigger and better than ever, and we’d like you to be a part of our week-long celebration.

R.O.C.K. Ride On Center for Kids, located in Southeast Georgetown, is a non-profit provider of therapeutic horseback riding and Hippotherapy for individuals with cognitive and physical challenges.  These therapies benefit the bodies, minds, and spirits of children and adults in our Central Texas community.  Our work with veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan through our Horses for Heroes program has been the subject of local print and broadcast news stories, and it continues to grow through outreach to Ft. Hood soldiers and others in our area.  We continue to expand in the areas of research and education, serving students aged 2 to 82.  None of our programs would be possible without the generosity of fundraising supporters as our fees cover only a fraction of our costs.

The theme for our week-long celebration in 2010 is “Heroes Welcome,” honoring our veterans and showcasing their incredible sacrifices and contributions to our country as well as their hard work and healing that occurs in the Merlin Hoppe Arena.  To kick off the week, the Barn Dance will be held on Saturday, April 2010, and the featured entertainment will be none other than Asleep At The Wheel, the multiple Grammy Award winning country/western swing band.  There’ll be a lot of dancing, but very little dressing up, so pull on your boots and jeans and join in the swingin’!

Rodeo Week will follow the Barn Dance from Tuesday, April 13 – Friday, April 16.  Our students and horses will demonstrate their skills and receive awards throughout the week, and you can be a part of it.  Just join us at the arena to recognize these children and adults for jobs well done.  You’ve never felt so good in dirt up to your ankles!

All this culminates in the hugely popular R.O.C.K. Open House on Saturday, April 17 in the Merlin Hoppe Arena.  Bring the kiddos for a wholesome afternoon of carnival games, train rides, a cake walk, a rock-climbing wall, delicious lunch selections, and non-stop entertainment.

We recognize that you have many requests and opportunities for charitable giving.  In this time of economic uncertainty, every dollar that you give takes on more meaning.  We hope to show you the miracles that happen every day at The Ride On Center For Kids, to show you our beautiful facility, and to share with you some of the stories of bravery from our armed forces clients that happen in our arena every week.  We know that at this time, especially, your contribution to R.O.C.K. will be one that you will be proud of.
